Tell Me That's NOT Banjo Music I Hear...
So as I leave my comfy confines in lush Bonita Springs, Florida, I head south on I-75 to Exit 101. This is where the super slab turns into what is appropriately known as Alligator Alley. But we'll leave that for another time. Today we've loaded up the family and we're heading out to the Florida Sports Park in Collier County to witness the World Famous Swamp Buggy Races and The Budweiser Fall Classic.
Oh yeah... this is genuine deep south motorsports folks. Swamp Buggy races are held every January, March and October. And, as much as you might want to poke a little fun at the absurdity of it all, Swamp Buggy, Inc. is all about doing the right thing. It¹s a non-profit corporation, over 59 years old, dedicated to fund-raising opportunities for all area charities and civic organizations, preserving the tradition of swamp buggy racing and protecting the heritage and culture of the development of Collier County. At the same time, providing affordable entertainment and recreational activities to all it's citizens. Well, how can you knock that?
Free eBook
Download your free eBook.Giving credit where credit is due, I had been kicking around this idea for quite some time when I came across Thorsten Overgaard's presentation about a month ago. If you're a frequent visitor to my site, you know that my opening page features a slide show of my favorite images from the most recent event. And, now the season is over, it is a rather large presentaion of some of my favorites from the year.
Realizing I needed to edit down my 2008 images to a reasonable size portfolio-like presentation, I have taken Thorsten's queque and created a free eBook that friends, clients and potential clients can download and save locally for future review.
You can download your copy of my free eBook by following this link. It is a PDF file and upon completion of the download process will launch in Adobe Acrobat and prompt a dialogue box asking permission to display the file in "full screen" mode. This will allow you to view each page at your own pace and enjoy the images in a full view on your computer screen.
Please note, you cannont edit, copy or print this file. It is simply a portable presentation for your personal enjoyment.
Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy.
The Leica Digilux 2
Leica Digilux 2Since writing about this camera a few weeks back, I've had quite a few people asking me to explain my infatuation with it. I could answer them simply just by showing them an image from the camera. But, to be fair, it's more than that. And, after all, lots of cameras out there, regardless of price, can take a good picture.
First, I'll acknowledge that I'm a little crazy when it comes to this sort of thing. And, I happily admit I can become obsessive about tiny nuances that may not matter to others. But for me, the personal experience and the emotional process of ENJOYING something is important. For me, "getting there" is half the fun. So, if you are brave enough to continue my personal guided tour of this jewel of a camera, be forewarned, I have no problem losing touch with reality and when it comes to this sort of thing and you might end up learning more about me than you probably care to know. It's all about the experience.
